Overview of Programs
New Life Charter Academy addresses the diverse academic needs of all learners within an educational framework that aligns standards-based teaching with research-based practice. Teaching and learning models will vary based on individual student’s needs, but the standards themselves will remain consistent. The staff, administration and community will work together to ensure every child has the support necessary to advance academically and socially.
English Language Arts
New Life Charter Academy uses Benchmark Advances, a research-based, comprehensive reading program that includes a wide reading selection of literary and non-literary texts. A multitude of supplemental materials includes the following: leveled reading texts, consumable workbooks for grammar and spelling, and interdisciplinary lessons.
Math
New Life Charter Academy uses Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Go Math!, a program that offers an engaging and interactive approach to covering new state standards. Its seamless digital path and Write-in Student Edition ensure that students can access content at appropriate levels of depth and rigor.
Studies Weekly
Studies Weekly is a unique, digital, rigorous, relevant, and immersive learning tool that engages all K-5 students in a Social Studies Curriculum. It is a student-friendly core Social Studies curriculum organized thematically to the strands of civics and government, geography, economics, and history. All within the student-friendly periodical format and robust online learning platform, students will be able to have a hands-on experience delving deeper into history with materials for them to write on, highlight, and cut up every week. Studies Weekly is integrated with ELA, allowing the students to not only learn Social Studies but to also help them with other important areas of their studies.
S.T.E.A.M.
S.T.E.A.M. Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) mobile will resume to provide innovative education experiences for all students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in the month of April for all grade levels. Our students will recive opportunites to solve fun challenges in the 2022-2023 school year!
Science
New Life Charter Academy uses Science Fusion, a science program designed for building inquiry and STEM skills and optimized for learning in the classroom or at home, on a laptop, tablet, or using a science textbook. The digital curriculum, virtual labs, hands-on activities, and write-in science textbook develop important critical-thinking skills that prepare students for success in future science courses and in the workplace.
